Quick and Easy Registration

Email: cadesertnatrfest@aol.com with:

  1. Your choices of field trips.
  2. Your name and phone numbers.
  3. Number of people in your party.

OR you may register at least one hour before the Field Trip at the registration desk at The Living Desert.

           

Field Trip Tips

 

  • Wear comfortable, sturdy shoes.
  • Dress in layers so you can cool down or keep warm.
  • Bring water (usually a quart per hour per person) and a light snack if needed.
  • Sunscreen, Chap Stick, sunglasses and a hat will help prevent sunburn (also freckles, age spots and wrinkles!)
  • Inform your field trip leader if you have any medical condition for consideration.
  • Talk to your children before the field trip and explain basic courtesies such as using a quiet voice, listen to your fieldtrip leader (and nature) and be polite to others on the fieldtrip.
  • For safety, keep your child on the trail and by your side during the adventure.
  • Sorry, no pets.
  • Don't forget your camera and binoculars!

Meet at the gate of the Indian Canyons Palm Springs Map - Map of Palm Springs, CA

The Agua Caliente Cultural Museum invites you to experience Adreas Canyon, one the Ancient Cahuilla Village Sites in the Coachella Valley. It will be a gentle hike through the Canyon Oasis, guided by Jona Kalayjian, Out Reach Specialist for the Aqua Caliente Cultural Museum. Learn about the Cultural Cahuilla History of the Canyon and The Cahuilla People, as well as the Native Plant and  Animal uses. Hikers will meet at the Gate and go in together. Limited to 20 Hikers each Hike. There will be No Fee for this Hike for California Desert Nature Festival/Party for the Planet attendees .  We look forward to sharing the Canyon of or our Ancients with you.

CabotÕs Pueblo Museum, Desert Hot Springs

Exploring the Salton Sea - Kurt Leuschner

Meet in the Costo (Rancho Mirage, Monterey Exit off I-10 Costco) parking lot at 7:20 am

Experience a fascinating day trip to the Salton Sea hosted by Professor Leuschner, Learn about the history of the Salton Sea as well as the bird species that frequent it shores,  A wonderful opportunity for visitors to enjoy a warm and friendly morning amongst the beauty of this desert sea with an expert leader. You will need to take hat, hiking shoes, sunscreen, water and a snack.  There will be a stop at a local eatery for lunch. $20

Murray Canyon Nature Walk - Joe Migliore 

Sunday, April 13, 8 to 12 PM

Join Joe Migliore, certified interpretive guide for the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, on a moderate stroll into the diverse landscape of Murray Canyon adorned with spring wildflowers and palms along a babbling creek.  About 4 miles with stream crossings.  Bring trekking pole, food, water, sunscreen, camera and binoculars.

 Meet at tollgate to Indian Canyons, 38520 S. Palm Canyon, at 8 AM.

Desert Poetry and Nature Writing Workshop and Hike
